Apple has reduced its overall greenhouse gas emissions by more than 55 percent since 2015, the company shared today in its 2024 Environmental Progress Report. “Apple 2030” is the company’s goal to become “carbon neutral” across its entire value chain by the end of this decade. The goal is to cut emissions by 75 percent from 2015 levels.

“The proof of Apple’s commitment to climate action is in our progress: We’ve slashed emissions by more than half, all while serving more users than ever before,” said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, in a statement. “More hard work is ahead of us, and we’re focused on harnessing the power of innovation and collaboration to maximize our impact.”

  1. “Environmental justice.” 🤣 Does anybody with a brain still fall for this horseshit anymore?

  2. When everything sounds good, but in reality, it’s all so vapid.
Reminds me of the recent TED Talk given by NPRs CEO involving “Truth.” More vapidity. It’s everywhere.

  3. Energy is fungible, as is money… Some might not understand this which I get, so let me explain:

Say Iran has money held up by the US, and then we release it back to them for their humanitarian area of their budget. That frees up the money they were spending on humanitarian/people needs in their country to buy other stuff – like drones and missiles, fund Hezbollah, etc… Money all goes into one pot, and the more of it you have, the more you can spend or save however you wish. It is – Fungible.

With electricity it is the same thing. The – Same – Thing. Wind, Solar, Geothermal, it’s not in silo’s somewhere all bottled up, or running on separate power lines to your home, Apple, or their sub-suppliers. Rather, it’s all on one grid. Energy is fungible.

All Apple is doing is paying more for their electricity, and in turn power companies use that extra costly payment to subsidize their wind and solar facilities. But Apple’s power is from coal plants, hydro dams, wind, solar, from all over wherever it can come from the cheapest at any given time.

The idea that “we are all green now” or “we are now using 100% clean energy” is BUNCH – OF – CRAP-OLA.

Hope that helped a few out there.

  4. Let’s just add a related small fact; most of the energy powering those quiet, sleek and often inconvenient vehicles (long trip refills, cold weather, stacked recharge stations, battery replacement cost, fire risk, initial expense) is coal & nat gas. But hey, on the “surface,” they look clean and subsidies are like candy…everyone would like a piece.

I don’t know anyone that desires dirty air, or sees the earth as discardable…but embracing an ideology that’s tipping over the World undergirded by, “The Science is Settled,” when science is NEVER settled and the research re: AGW is quite divergent, is premature at best and most likely presumptuous. Pridefully claiming carbon neutrality when “carbon credits” are involved reek of the Church’s practice of yore involving indulgences to absolve oneself…while the infraction often continued.

  5. Stop telling us how great you are and get back to making great products, unfortunately an attitude long absent at Apple. We can all decide whether you’re great without any guidance.

  6. It’s reduced it’s productivity and innovation 100000000000% since 2011.

Apple needs a master chef, but is stuck with a lousy cook.

Time go fire the ‘transitional’ CEO and get someone in Apple with vision and to fire 90% of its bozo employees so it can get back to work.
